What can I say about Beamer... Classmate Mark Beam is a very talented
dude! His
artistic prowess is collected by top celebrities, notable commissions, and
has been featured in movies ("The Mezzos", "The Thin
Pink Line", "Surrender") and
on television ("My Two Dads"). He
was also a production assistant/commissioned artist years ago for "The
Pee-Wee Herman Show". Beamer's cow was the central character

Back when we was just Dave Parker at DHS, he was quite a character. True
to his heart, Wayne David Parker, as he now is known, still is one (kinda
like Detroit Cody HS 1973 grad Dave Grier is now known as David Alan
Grier). Who
can forget his portrayal of Jimmer Negamanee in Jeff Daniel's "Escanaba
in da Moonlight" ("My Schevy schooka schitt")
on stage and on film. He is a regular at the Purple Rose Theatre
in Chelsea, MI and also keeps busy doing voice talent and on camera work
in commercials.

Armed with only a digital video camera, a list of 20 questions, and
a dream... Classmate Ward Powers, his cousin, and his best friend
set out in 2002 to become independent filmmakers in search of " the meaning of life ". What
came about two years later is the movie "One" - seeking answers to life's
ultimate questions from many of the world's greatest spiritual leaders,
authors, icons, and masters of our time (and getting rave reviews from
the Detroit News, Detroit Free Press, as well as numerous film critics
and spiritual leaders around the world).

There was plenty of talented individuals that graduated from the DHS
in the mid 1970s, especially pianists and keyboardists. Kevin Kazakevich, Leslie
Howell, Paul Schmitt - even Rollin Marquis (remember the top hat and suspenders?). But
the one that stands out the most in my mind is James Jelasic. I still
can remember the numerous hours he 'sweat bullets' trying to learn "Bumble
Boogie" for the DHS Jazz Show. Well, James has been a partner
in an entertainment company since 1986 - Black
Tie Arts - and his own record label - Water's
Edge - featuring his keybord talents that are well known in the Washington
D.C. area (he played at one of the Innagural Balls in January 2005).
